The Elios 3 represents the next generation in remote confined space inspection drones. Elios 3 retains the same robust cage form factor of Elios 2 (including the full 4K video camera with thermal imager, distance lock, adjustable lighting, and on-the-fly measurements) but now includes two new key technologies:
LiDAR. with SLAM
Every Elios 3 comes with an advanced, on-board LIDAR scanner, able to deliver accurate 3D maps of the most complex environments. Two LiDAR options are available: the standard LiDAR option includes the Ouster OSO-32 rev 6 scanner for live on-screen 3D maps for complete situational awareness and data localisation. The Elios 3 Survey option includes the Ouster OSO-128 rev 7 scanner which has twice the scan range, 5 times the point density, and significantly increased overall precision for centimetre-accurate, survey grade point clouds.
Either way, when coupled with Flyability’s new FlyAware™ processing engine, the Elios 3 LiDAR scanner provides not only unparalleled flight stability, but also a real-time 3D map, live on-screen as you fly, giving you unprecedented feedback on the drone’s relative location within a given space, and providing unmatched stability and control in the harshest environments (water, dust, wind, and so on).
Modular Payloads
Elios 3 also has the capability to carry additional payloads, alongside the LiDAR scanner and the 4K video camera / thermal imager. This opens up all kinds of new inspection and analysis possibilities for Elios 3 in the future, including radiation detection, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), survey grade point clouds, hazardous gas detection, and many more.
Elios 3 is built for the future, and is part of the drive towards Industry 4.0, the automation of many industrial processes, and removal humans from potentially hazardous or dangerous environments. The new SLAM LIDAR unit along with the FlyAware™ processing engine open up the possibility of fully autonomous inspection flights, without any human input, repeatable with precision over time. This feature will be available in the near future.
High Quality Visual Inspection
Elios 3 also continues to offer the same high quality visual inspection capability that Elios 2 is famous for: a 4K video camera with thermal imager, 180º tilt up or down, and a powerful, adjustable lighting system (60 precent brighter than Elios 2!). In addition, new battery technology and more powerful motors means 25 percent more flight time than with Elios 2.
Beyond Visual – Survey Grade Models
Turn Elios 3 data into survey-grade 3D models using FARO Connect software and the Survey Payload upgrade option. FARO Connect (formally GeoSLAM Connect) is a software solution developed to help surveyors map the most unreachable places. You can now accurately survey, document and build precise 3D models of the most inaccessible and hazardous asset areas.
The Elios 3 Survey Package includes the latest Ouster OS0-128 Rev 7 LiDAR scanner, which has a scan range of up to 100m, and a density of 1.3 million points/sec — 5 times that of the standard scanner!
Packages
The Flyability Elios 3 is sold as a complete package, including the drone itself, the controller and tablet, the software, batteries and everything you need to fly right out of the box.
There are three package options available: Elios 3 LIGHT, Elios 3 PREMIUM and Elios 3 ENTERPRISE. The PREMIUM and ENTERPRISE Packages come with additional batteries and chargers, plus a 2-year warranty.
All packages come with Inspector 5 desktop software for importing, sorting and processing your inspection data, along with the ability to output comprehensive Reports.
Both the PREMIUM and ENTERPRISE Packages come with a 3-year Premium software subscription, giving you access to the Asset Management system for Inspector 5. Asset Management bridges the gap between individual flight-based data capture, and more complete asset management. This simplifies Elios 3’s processing and reporting workflows by merging data from subsequent flights into a single view of your asset.
The ENTERPRISE Package also includes the Range Extender. Whichever package you choose, everything comes in custom-designed, industrial strength, wheeled hard case that is easy to transport and ensures you have everything on hand, ready to fly.

The Range Extender is an antenna booster that connects to the RC controller. A 20-metre cable connects the antenna booster to the controller. The booster can then be placed inside a chamber or room, or dropped down a shaft.
CITF Funding
Eligible companies in the construction, engineering, infrastructure or surveying sectors may apply for funding to cover a large portion of the cost of an Elios system, up to 70 percent.
