Lift Shafts
While lift cars and lift mechanics are the responsibility of the service provider (overseen by EMSD), lift shafts themselves get very little TLC: they are difficult and dangerous to access manually, and areas at the very top are often completely out of reach. The Elios 3 is the ideal tool for inspecting lift shafts in Hong Kong, of which there are thousands!
With the Elios 3 we can reach up to 70m in a few minutes, gather comprehensive video, image and thermal data, and overlay all that data on a 3D map of the lift shaft for easy and concise reporting.
The Hong Kong Housing Authority is now actively specifying Elios 3 drone inspections across many of their housing estates, with hundreds of older housing blocks now in line for drone inspection work.
Housing Block Re-entrances
The design of residential blocks in Hong Kong require all bathroom and kitchen areas have windows and ventilation to the outside. Plus, all utilities and piping are placed on the outside of the building.
This is usually done in the design by creating recessed sections around the block to house these utilities — called re-entrances. But gaining access into a re-entrance for close inspection is difficult: most drones cannot get inside safely without having transmission or GPS issues.
Enter the Elios 3! Able to reach into these confined areas easily and safely, we can inspect an entire re-entrance in just one or two flights, with location data to pinpoint found problems!
