Dronesurvey Asia and the Flyability Elios 3 have been awarded the “Champion of Innovation” in the 2025 Construction Robot Competition and Exhibition, jointly organised by the Hong Kong Government Development Bureau the Construction Industry Council, and the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Intelligent Construction Industry Development Alliance.

The Elios 3 (represented and supported by Dronesurvey Asia in Hong Kong and Macau) beat out strong competition from advanced construction robotic solutions from both Hong Kong companies and companies from Mainland China, proving its leading edge value as the go-to drone for confined space inspections when it comes to pre-construction renovation or repair work, ongoing construction inspection work at height or in complex situations, or for inspecting ageing infrastructure prior to rebuild or restoration.

The award was presented during a ceremony held on 31st July, 2025. The Construction Robot Competition and Exhibition was held at the new Xiqu Centre, transforming it into a dynamic showcase of innovation, featuring over 15 leading companies presenting robotic solutions as well as some of the robots that won in the competition held in early July.

CIC Chairman Ir Prof. Thomas HO noted that this year marked the first collaboration with a Mainland partner, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Smart Construction Industry Development Alliance to co-host the robot competition and exhibition. Over 100 teams participated, showcasing innovative solutions and highlighting the rise of AI+ Robotics technologies. By fostering industrial collaboration within the GBA and promoting knowledge exchange, the aim is to build an ecosystem that supports the full life-cycle implementation of construction robotics. This competition helped to expand the cross-border platform for robotic applications, achieving numerous partnership matching.
